Dr. Rahbar was born and educated in Iran, receiving an undergraduate degree and then graduate degrees in medicine, with honors in 1978, from the University of Teheran. He completed medical school in the top 1%.   Thereafter, he took the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates test to qualify to practice medicine in the United States. Subsequently, he immigrated to the United States to complete his post-graduate education.

He completed an internship in General Surgery at New Rochelle Medical Center, New Rochelle, NY, a hospital affiliated with New York Medical College. Following that, he took three years of residency in Internal Medicine at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, NY, part of the University of Rochester School of Medicine. In addition, he completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology and Nutrition at Loma Linda University, Medical Center and Veterans Administration Hospital, Loma Linda, California in 1985.

He took his gastroenterology boards in 1985 and passed with a near perfect score. Immediately afterwards, Dr. Rahbar served on the teaching faculty of Loma Linda University as a clinical instructor in medicine for several years. In 1986, he opened his  practice in Beverly Hills.

Being perfectly fluent in English, as well as Farsi and conversant in Spanish, Dr. Rahbar treats a variety of patients from Western, Middle Eastern and other worldwide backgrounds.

Since the early 1990s, Dr. Rahbar has continued his teaching activities at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center as an attending staff physician for the Metabolic Support Team, GI Endoscopy and GI Clinic. Based on his scholastic activities, he was promoted to Fellow of the American College of Physicians in 1997. Fellowship in the American College of Physicians is a mark of distinction. ACP Fellows are distinguished professionals dedicated to continuing education in medical practice, teaching, or research.
